What is a discovery flight? A discovery flight is a 30-45 minute flight to get your feet wet. An instructor will take you up and let you take the controls as much, or as little, as you would like. You'll get a great overview of taxiing, takeoff, radio communications, level flight, and landing. After your flight, if you'd like to learn more about taking lessons, your instructor will be happy to answer any questions you have. You can bring up to 2 additional passengers for an additional $25 each. Airplanes have a max weight limit, so additional passengers may be limited.
How much does flight training cost? Costs can vary based on how quickly you learn and how many hours it takes you to become proficient. On average, you should expect $10k-$15k to earn your private and another $10k-$15k to get your instrument rating. Pursuing your commercial rating can also vary widely, but we have some strategies that will lower your cost! You should expect this to cost somewhere in the $50k-$75k range. Visit our FINANCING page, or CONTACT US to discuss more and find out how we can help you earn your ratings with as little money out of pocket as possible.

Do you offer financing for flight training? Although flying is often less expensive than college, it's still not an inexpensive career or hobby to get into. We have students from differing financial situations, so we understand what works for one person, may not work for another. For that reason, we encourage you to visit our FINANCING page, or CONTACT US and we will take the time to understand your individual situation and come up with the best plan to move forward. The last thing we want is for you to miss out on one of the best careers and hobbies that exists.
04
What type of training environment should I expect? SAFE, laid back, fun, but professional at the same time! Our students are like family to us. So you can expect your instructor to take good care of you and you'll create a new friendship in the process! Learning to fly with us is truly a great experience!
05
Can you work around my schedule? We recommend scheduling at least 1-2 flight lessons per week to ensure consistent progress. However, the frequency of lessons may vary depending on your schedule and availability. If you want to fly 7 days a week, we can do that, too! We'll give you access to our flight scheduler, and you can schedule flights and lessons yourself based on what works best for you!
06
How long is a typical flight lesson? Again, we will work with you, but a typical lesson is around 3 hours. The longer the block, the more flight time you will get. For a 3 hour lesson, you can expect to spend about 15 minutes before and after your flight to brief, preflight the plane, secure, and debrief afterwards. Flight time is only charged for the time the engine is running. Instructor time starts and ends with the lesson. So in the example above, you'd have 2.5 hours of flight time, and 3 hours of instructor time.
07
How should I dress for my flight lessons? We recommend wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather, as well as closed-toe shoes. It is also important to dress in layers as the temperature can vary in the aircraft.
08
Can I meet with an instructor and take a tour of your plane and facilities? ABSOLUTELY, We'd love for you to! Just CONTACT US and we'll be glad to schedule a meet and greet with you!
09
What will I need to get started taking flight lessons? You have to be at least 16 years old before you can solo, and 17 to take your checkride to get your private. You'll also need a government issued photo ID and either your passport or copy of your birth certificate. You'll also need a medical certificate before you solo, and we can refer you to our local FAA medical examiner for that.
